Violet M. Litchford
February 5, 1933 – June 15, 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Violet Marie Litchford announces her passing on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the age of 84 years. Violet will be forever remembered by her children Lynetta Ribordy (Dan), Terry Dietz (Betty), Sherry Escalante, Jody Martindale (Rob), stepdaughter Betty Martin (Roger), and her brother Don Sturms (Joyce). Violet was predeceased by her parents, Hilton and Frieda Sturms, brother Jerry Sturms, and husband Virgil Litchford. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Violet will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
A native of Illinois, Violet was a devoted farm wife who loved to dance, craft, collect recipes and enjoy life. She later moved to Bryan, Texas where she married and was involved in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion.
A visitation in memory of Violet will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 21, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, Bryan, Texas. Violet willed her body to the Texas A&M Health Science Center for medical research and education; services and burial will follow in Walnut, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 West 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.
