Richard Thomas Stevens

I had the pleasure of knowing Richard for the past several years after meeting him at a local store where I worked part time. Richard was a delight to know and had so many interesting stories. I often got to visit with him while helping him with various computer or technical problems. He was very intelligent and his collection of curiosities were a constant source of interesting conversations and bits of technical knowledge. I’ll miss him

My family had the pleasure of living across the street from “Mr. Richard” for a short time in 2020. We enjoyed visiting with him and hearing his stories. It was such a surprise to learn that he and I both were born in Kentucky & graduated from UK, even though we were born generations apart. Then somehow both landed in Bryan, TX on the same street. As it turns out, my husband’s job moved us to Birmingham this past last year, and we moved to the same neighborhood he had lived in when he lived there in the 60s (I think)! We always had something to talk about. What a life of adventure. My children and I admired his smile, his joyful attitude, and they found it very neat how he built so many things – he loved showing them to us – truly young at heart. He was a sweet neighbor. My condolences to his family and all who will miss him. If only we are all so blessed to live as many years.
