Martha "Marty" Little

martha

February 24, 1948 ~ November 20, 2022

Born in: Hattiesburg, Mississippi
Resided in: Bryan, Texas

Accompanied by a golden effervescence and an unworldly placidity, Heaven’s Angels warmly guided Marty Little home last Sunday evening, November 20, 2022. Her immediate family had the honor of standing beside her as she nobly left this world and transcended into paradise. They marveled at how bravely she fought the great beast, commonly called cancer. Her tenacity was great to the very end, but it was her faith that was never-ending.

Marty was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on February 24, 1948. She met her loving and adoring husband at the tender age of thirteen. By their first year in high school the two soulmates were dating, and their unique love story continued until her last breath on earth. To attempt to enumerate all her accomplishments, talents, and adorable idiosyncrasies would be a futile effort. This is not because there were too few, but on the contrary. There were too many.

It seems a bit too simple to quickly summarize Marty as a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend. Perhaps, however, complexity is best reserved for the ordinary; and ordinary Marty Little was not. Simply put, she was extraordinary!

Marty’s extraordinary life will be honored Monday, November 28, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church of Bryan. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with services promptly following at 11:00 AM. The interment will immediately proceed at the Aggie Field of Honor and Memorial Cemetery.

Marty was preceded in death by her parents, John Charles Curry and Marguerite Twilley Curry; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dallas “Jack” Nevil Little and Bernice “Bebe” Sellers Little; and her great-niece, Lillian Grace Curry.

Marty is survived by her husband, Dallas Neville Little; her son, Dallas Curry Little and his wife, Alexia Donohue Little, and their son, Dallas Theo Little; her daughter, Martha Rebecca Little and her devoted dog, Otis; her brother John Charles Curry Jr. and his wife, Grace Lynn Curry, and their two children, John Charles Curry III and Twilley Curry Delligatti; her sister-in-law, Nancy Little Huerkamp and her husband, Erwin George Huerkamp Jr., and their three children, Erwin Scott Huerkamp, Matthew Nevil Huerkamp, and Todd Christian Huerkamp; and many cousins, nephew-in-laws, niece-in-laws, and great nephews and nieces, all of whom loved and adored her extraordinarily.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. The Miller family was fortunate to be the Little’s next door neighbor for 30 plus years. Marty was like a second mother to our son. We will miss her beautiful spirit and loving heart. I will miss her stories that always made me laugh.
We love you Martha, Dallas and Dal.

    • Those stories were hilarious .. remembering all the times I would call momma late night from Houston , and she would answer and tell me, “talking to Scott, I’ll call you back”

Would give anything to hear those words again❤️

      Love,
      MJ

  2. The Hall family is saddened to learn of Marty’s untimely death. She was a wonderful person and a lot of fun. Although we had not seen her for a while, she was always friendly when we did see her and connected around our kids. Love to Dallas, Dal and Martha.

  3. What sad news this is. Our hearts and prayers are with Dallas, Dal, Martha and family. What great times we had with the Little family – Marty’s lively way, hilarious sense of humor and wonderful family stories of life growing up in Hattiesburg. She was the most “southern” lady we’ve ever known – and that’s saying something. We send love and hugs for all of you – she lived life to the fullest! Blessings for all of the Little family.

    • Oh my goodness ! Thank you Perry family ! What wonderful memories indeed!
Momma’s Hattiesburg stories should literally be made into a movie one day!

What a life she lived.. I keep thinking, surely today I can’t miss her more than yesterday and yet somehow I always can .

  4. Our lives changed the day Marty moved in next door. Beautiful inside and out with a joy and spirit for life that made us all become better. She loved our girls with a kindness and interest in their daily lives that we could’ve never even wished for. Marty was the most hospitable person, always worried about others. She was absolutely fabulous in all respects. She was more than our neighbor and will always be kept strong in our hearts. Her love for her family was immeasurable and the love she shared with Dallas is beyond words and served as a shining example to all of us. Our hearts are broken. May heaven be even more than she ever imagined and may you all slowly find peace in the many extraordinary memories of your time shared with her. Love to you all!

    • Thank you Loup family!

She loved y’alls visits . I would tell her y’all were coming over , and she’d run quickly back to her room and throw on something fabulous- even when she was very sick, she was still a beautiful hostess. She was never without a collection on colas to offer “the girls”❤️

  5. I was so sad to hear of Marty’s passing. She reached out to me 3 years ago when my husband passed away-it was so good to hear from her. It’s sad that the Curry’s are scattered across the US & we haven’t seen each other in forever. My prayers are for God’s peace & comfort for y’all today

  6. Prayers for strength to the Little family. Martha, your mom will always be with you in heart and spirit. Always cherish the times you had together.
    Love,
    The Gambill Family
    Andy, Kelle, Ryne and Reagan

  7. Keeping the Little family close to our hearts and in our daily prayers! I will remember how Marty had a true gift of really listening, wanting to know what was happening in your life and truly taking time for a meaningful chat. Such a gift that all should try to emulate. Impeccable style and grace, a true southern lady. Thankful for many sweet moments in time with Mrs. Marty.

    We Love Ya’ll!!

  8. Praying for the Little family and all who loved Marty. Dallas, Dal and Martha, she loved each of you so very much. This difficult season of grief will be difficult no doubt, but it is only a season.
