Jose’ Parra, 51, of Bryan, passed away peacefully in the presences of his family on Monday, July 19, 2021 in Bryan. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, with the rosary recited at 11 am, Friday, July 23, 2021 both in Callaway-Jones Funeral Center. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Will Straten, Pastor, at 12 noon, Friday, July 23, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Center. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
Jose’ was born in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico to his parents, David and Rufina Rivera Parra on August 25, 1969. The industrious young man would leave his native homeland to begin his new life’s adventure in Bryan, Texas while living with relatives. Jose’ was a man of the land, a commonsense man, and creative with his self-taught skills in carpentry. His life experiences endured has formed him to be the best dad, son, brother, and loyal companion to many close and dear friends. He was forever outdoors gardening, planting various plants around his yard. Jose’ saw his work as his hobby and loved creating new designs when the opportunity arose. He was a mechanic, plumber, electrician, the true definition of a Handyman. His legacy of his master craft skills and vision will be forever in the grounds of Santa’s Wonderland where he shared his talents in building many projects for all to enjoy over the last eight years. Jose’ not only shared his joys of skills but shared his Catholic faith with his family as a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Center.
He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Ricardo Montoya.
Jose’ is survived by children, Baltazar Parra-DeJesus, Angelica Parra-DeJesus, and Carlos Parra-DeJesus; the mother of his children and lifelong friend, Rocio Seledonio; his parents David and Rufina Parra; his siblings, David Parra (Tina), Faustino Parra, Alberto Parra, Amelia Parra, Maria Parra, Graciela Parra, Raquel Parra, Arturo Parra, and Diego Parra (Arcy Ibarra); his grandchildren, Kaleb Banuelos and Isaac Parra; his other relatives, close friends and his work family.

My deepest sympathies and condolences goes out to this family…my family. May Balthazar, Angelica, and Carlos feel the presence and power and comfort of our God like never before during this heartbreaking time. My prayers are with you guys. I love y’all.
I didn’t know him personally but would often run into him at Santa’s Wonderland. He was always working on something or making sure things were working at it should be. He surely was a good and very hard working man. May God protect his family anf friends.
