Jack L. Foley passed away peacefully on September 4, 2020. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Aggie Field of Honor, 3800 Raymond Stotzer Pkwy., College Station, Texas on Saturday, September 12, at 10:30 a.m. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
Jack was born December 3, 1946, in Bloomington, Illinois to Jack K. and Edith Loretta Foley. Jack is a graduate of Justin F. Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas. In the fall of 1965, he entered Texas A&M University as a freshman member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. He graduated from TAMU in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree followed by a Master of Science degree in 1974, both of which were in Economics. Jack went on to pursue his career in education teaching at Normangee High School, Bryan High School, and Blinn College. During his career in education, he taught English and Economics for a total of 45 years. While a student at A&M, he met the love of his life Anita Moore. They were married in August of 1968 at Oakwoods Christian Church, Dallas, Texas. His interests included woodworking, playing the mandolin, bluegrass music, fishing, golf, and Aggie sports. He was a regular at the Ags‘n Bacon breakfast group.
His parents precede Jack in death. Survivors include his wife, Anita; daughter, Lauren Douglas and her husband, Dustin; son, Joshua Foley and his wife, Danielle; sister, Janice Wheeler and husband, Tony; and six grandchildren. A special thank you to the Hospice Brazos Valley nurse Rosie Meredith.

I am sorry to hear about the home going of Mr. Foley; my thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Jack Foley was the first upperclassman I met when I checked into the Aggie Band dorm in September of 1967. He was responsible for checking in the “fish” and making sure we went to the right rooms. He was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor.
My condolences to the family! Mr. Foley was one of my greatest teachers! Several of us used to kid around and always ask Mr. Foley what was he going to do with all that money he was making at Foley’s! He would just laugh and say I wished I owned Foley’s! He will be dearly missed! Rest In Peace Mr. Foley!

I send my deepest condolences to you all. Mr. Foley was a great man and a brilliant educator. I cherish the memories growing up around your wonderful family. I am praying for you all.
My deepest condolences. I was his student at Bryan High in 1980 and 1981, and Mr. Foley literally changed my life. He was a truly remarkable teacher. I am glad I had a chance to tell him many years later just how much of an impact he had. His enthusiasm and innovation in the classroom kept his students engaged, but it was the way he believed in and mentored each of us that set him apart. His encouragement of my writing and support of my entry into UIL competition influenced my choice of college major and my professional career, but it was his example of the power of a teacher that made me go back for a PhD and become a teacher myself for the last 25 years. I am sure I am not alone in my deep appreciation of his impact on his students.
Anita and family,
I first met Jack 55 years ago when we were bass-playing fish together in the Aggie Band. He was a gentle soul with the heart of a lion. His outlook was invariably optimistic and his gentle good humor was infectious. I will miss him greatly. Rest in peace, old friend.
Our condolences to all of the family in this time of grief and sadness. I met Jack as a freshman 55 years ago and his enthusiasm for ALL THINGS AGGIE never waned. His a character was marked by true sincerity, care for others, and genuine friendship. He will be missed by all of us. May God be with Anita and familia and guide them during this time of transition. Been a lot of years since Jack and I made hundreds of Dallas to Aggieland runs. Those were special times but none more special than introducing Jack and Anita. My prayers are with the family as the close the circle and show their love for Jack.
I went to BHS 92-96. Mr. Foley was a great teacher and administrator. He also was my instructor for Economics at Blinn and he was incredible. I realized now lucky BHS was having him. My sincerest condolences to all of his family as friends. Honest Direct and Kind person.
I am so sorry to hear that Mr. Foley passed away. I still use the things he taught me in economics in my life, and it’s 20+ years later. Thank you to his family for sharing him with so many students over the years. Sending prayers for comfort to Mr. Foley’s family and friends.
Mr Foley built the biggest and best band in Normangee history! That band hall was wall to wall packed full of happy students! He brought the best out of me and many others.

Mr. Foley and I met on September 4, 1967. He was at the “check-in” desk and gave us our “room” assignment. Jack was always known as one of the nicer upperclassmen. Upon our return to B/CS, we once again would see Jack and Anita. Jack was kind enough to allow our then 7th grader to audit his class on how to take the SAT. He had to assure the juniors and seniors that they should not be intimidated by the little guy sitting in the back of the room. The little guy is going to take the SAT with you. He might be smart but, I have known his dad for a long time so, I know he is not THAT smart. Jack’s humor calmed the class down.
Gail and I pray for God’s loving arms to hold Anita and her family and bring them comfort.
Jack has now taken his rightful place in the bass rank of the Eternal Aggie Band.
