Born in: Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Resided in: Bryan, Texas

Gary Lynn Moore went to be with his Lord and Savior, March 7 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Gary’s life will be celebrated at Christ Church, 4201 SH-6 South in College Station, Texas on Saturday March 12 at 10am.  Reception will immediately follow at the church.

Gary was born on November 9, 1947, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado to LeeRoye Moore and Mildred Ruth Daniel Moore.  He spent his school years in Alvin, Texas and graduated Alvin High School. Alvin is where he met his wife of 57 years, Linda Turrentine Moore.  Gary and Linda started as childhood friends and became teenage sweethearts.  They then married and moved to Bryan, Texas and made that home in 1965.  Gary worked several years in the grocery business, paint business and at Texas A&M University before being led to open a Christian Bookstore.  Scripture Haven Christian Supply began in 1981 with the goal of serving the community of Bryan/College Station.  Gary’s vision and ministry is still alive after 41 years.

In addition to working diligently at Scripture Haven, Gary was a licensed auctioneer.  He spent many years as a Little League Coach and Cub Master of Cub Scout Pack 977.  He and Linda served as house parents of Sheltering Arms, a home for abused and neglected children.  He was chairman of the Brazos Valley Rehab Center Board of Directors for two terms.  Gary was a United Methodist lay speaker, and served in church, teaching numerous adult and youth Bible studies over the years.

Gary is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Moore, one son, David Moore and wife Deborah of Magnolia, Texas; one daughter, Cherie Moore of Chappell Hill, Texas; two sisters, Loretta Moore Russell of Edmund, Oklahoma and LaWanda Leary Rose and husband Ollie of Alvin, Texas; four grandchildren, Ryan Hayes and wife Nicole of Cypress, Texas; Rebekah Hayes of Montgomery, Texas; Matthew Moore and wife, Emma of Houston, Texas; Mitchell Moore of Magnolia, Texas and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  Gary was preceded in death by his father, LeeRoye Moore, his mother Mildred Ruth Daniel Moore and his brother, Harvey Lee Moore.

Gary will be remembered for his many outstanding attributes.  He was a faith-driven man, and his faith was evident in his daily life.  He was an avid reader, helping to keep his faith strong.  His infectious smile, caring heart and encouragement he offered touched many lives.  And his sense of humor could always be counted on.  He believed in the strength of family and did not know a stranger.  Gary was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
