David Cortez, 57, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2017. Born and raised in Bryan, TX, he was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Manuela Munoz Cortez, brother Henry Jr., and infant sister Rebecca.
His love for sports was unmatched. He now has the best seat in the house for Friday Night Lights and to “Whoop” and yell for his beloved Aggies.
Survivors include: brothers, Richard and wife Maria, Johnny and wife Mary; sisters Alice Mendez and husband Manuel, Virginia Espino, Yvonne Ramirez, Sylvia Coburn and husband Cliff, Vera Cortez, Angela Hudak and husband Bill; and sister-in-law Deolanda Cortez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He had no children but treated them all as his very own.
Per his request a private celebration of life will be held at a later date open to immediate families and close friends. Thank you and God Bless, from our family to yours.
Cremation and memorial services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers in Bryan College Station, Texas.

Feeling the void, Dave touched the lives of my family, my mother, grandmother, friends and extended family here in San Antonio. They had the privilege of meeting and sharing laughs with him during his visits to SA.
Cousin Dave was a great guy, he will live on in our memories forever.

I always remember the nick name he would give you if you asked a question & instead of calling you nosy he would call us “Mary” & if he asked we would call him “Mario”. Vera & Sylvia probably remember from work at Good old ARC & AMS! I am glad I got to know David.

Listening to Journey tonight, I was remembering you cousin Dave. Memories etched in my mind always. I will always be grateful for that one summer you did so much for me, more than any cousin I have. You made us laugh and you made us smile. May you rest in peace cousin Dave and may the angels from above welcome you home and please say Hi to my daddy, I love you. To the Cortez family in Bryan, may the Lord keep you close now and always especially during times like this.
