About Cremation Diamonds

Our Memorial Cremation Diamonds are genuine diamonds crafted from the cremated ashes of your loved one, serving as a beautiful tribute to their unique life. As a preferred partner of Algordanza Diamonds, we assure you that each diamond is a lasting keepsake, a remembrance, or even a cherished heirloom to pass down through generations.

These memorial diamonds shine in shades from pure white to a delicate bluish tint, depending on the natural presence of boron in the carbon. After synthesis, each rough diamond is carefully cut and polished to your specifications and can be inscribed with a personal message of up to 50 characters.

Each Cremation Diamond is presented in an elegant protective case, accompanied by a certificate signed by Algordanza’s founder, which guarantees the diamond’s authenticity, origin, color, size, and weight.

How Cremation Diamonds Are Made

1. The cremated remains, or human elements, undergo a thorough analysis.

2. Non-carbon elements are dissolved, leaving only raw organic carbon with trace amounts of boron, which influence the diamond's color.

3. The organic carbon is converted into graphite, then placed in a Diamond Press along with a starter diamond crystal. Under extreme conditions—2700°F and 1,000,000 psi—the graphite crystallizes, forming a new diamond structure that mirrors the molecular structure of the starter crystal.

4. Once crystallized to the specified carat weight, the diamond is removed from the press, and the natural diamond crystal is cut from the rough. The rough diamond is then shaped and polished to the desired form.

5. If chosen, the diamond is sent for laser engraving. If not, it is prepared for delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is an Algordanza Memorial Diamond a genuine diamond?

Yes, an Algordanza Memorial Diamond is a genuine diamond, with the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as a natural diamond found in the Earth.

  • How much ashes are needed for the process and what happens to the remains?

At least 1 pound of ashes is required for the synthesis process. Any remaining ashes not used will be returned, as per legal requirements. We ensure that all ashes are handled with dignity and care, with full documentation available for added assurance.

  • Can I have more than one diamond from the same ashes?

Yes, it is possible to create more than one diamond from the same ashes. However, the exact specifics can only be determined after a detailed analysis of the ashes in our laboratory.

  • Is the size of the diamond dependent on the amount of ashes used?

No, the size (weight) of the diamond does not depend on the amount of ashes used. Instead, the diamond’s size is determined by the duration of the growth process—the longer the diamond remains in the growing phase, the larger it can become.

  • Can a memorial diamond still be produced even though the person has been deceased and cremated a long time ago?

Yes, the age of the ashes does not affect the synthesis process, so a memorial diamond can still be produced even if the person has been deceased and cremated for a long time.

  • Why do the diamonds have different colors?

The diamonds have different colors due to the natural presence of boron in the carbon, which gives the diamonds a blue tint. The color is not manipulated in any way and reflects the unique composition of each individual’s ashes.

  • What do you guarantee with the certificate?

Our certificate guarantees the authenticity, weight, cut, and color of the diamond, as well as the chemical composition that confirms its origin from the cremation ashes provided to us.

  • I would like to have my diamond work up to a piece of jewelry – is that possible?

Yes, you can have your diamond set into a piece of jewelry by a jeweler of your choice at any time.
