Wilma Jean Thomas, 81, of Iola, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Sheridan Nursing & Rehabilitation of Navasota. A Memorial Service is set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Wilma was born in Corsicana, Texas on April 18, 1932. She had lived in Iola for seven years, having moved from Newport, Arkansas. Wilma lived most of her life in Houston, but had also been a long time resident of Bryan. She was a Jehovah’s Witness, a home health care provider and loved flowers and crawfish.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Volley Gill and Virgie Dorton Gill; sons, Charles L. McGough and Rickie McGough; daughter, Theresa L. Allen; and one sister.
Survivors include her husband, J. R. Thomas; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry G. and Laura McGough, of Willis, Texas, Michael C. McGough, of Iola, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon L. and Steve A. Smith, of Iola, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
