Florentino ‘Tino’ Ruiz, 55, of Hearne passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Hearne Healthcare Center after a long illness. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 3, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 4, at Santa Teresa Catholic Church with interment following at Bryan City Cemetery.
Tino was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Bryan, where he worked as a chef. His favorite hobby was photographing family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Encarnacion and Marina G. Ruiz, and brother, Ricardo Ruiz.
Survivors include his daughters, Crystal Mendez, Marina Ruiz, Melinda Ruiz and Denise Carbajal, all of Bryan; son, James Carbajal of Bryan; sisters, Frances Cantu of Virginia, Consuelo Sanchez and husband, Juan, of Alice, Texas, Blanca Trejo and husband, Lauro, of Brownsville, Texas, Maria Salinas and husband, Arturo, of Bryan, Janie Kumar of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Gracie Rivera of Pasadena, Texas; brothers, Jose Angel Ruiz of Bryan, Ramiro Vidaurri, Encarnacion Ruiz and wife, Eloisa, Reymundo Ruiz, all of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Daniel Ruiz and wife, Belinda, of Pasadena, Texas; eight beloved grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
