James Jackson

James D. “Jimmy” Jackson of College Station died peacefully of natural causes early Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the age of 83. Graveside services are set for 10:00 am on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at College Station City Cemetery.

Jimmy was born in Phillips, TX on September 23, 1934, but soon moved to Odessa, Texas, where he spent his childhood, married his high school sweetheart, June Haines, and raised his two daughters. He spent his working life in oilfield equipment sales. Jimmy was a gifted athlete who loved all sports. He spent time at Sul Ross University on a baseball scholarship, before returning home to marry June. His passion was golf and he excelled at the sport. At age 50, he took a year off from his oilfield career and obtained his PGA Seniors Tour card. He spent a year on the Seniors Tour before returning to his oilfield work. At age 62, Jimmy and June retired to Mexico, where they spent 13 years, learning a new culture and making new friends. Upon returning to the States, they settled in College Station. They celebrated their 60thwedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day 2014. Jimmy was known for his constant smile and great sense of humor. He brought great joy not only to his family, but to all who know him. He will be sorely missed.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife June; daughters Mallie Kay Flock and Jamie Jackson Bruns; five grandchildren; and many adoring nieces and nephews.

  1. Sorry to learn of Jim’s passing. I considered him my close friend since meeting him at Bryan
    golf course in early 2018. He spoken often of his two girls and family in general. I will him.
