Services for Verna Tullous Ellington, 93, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Bryan. Interment will follow at College Station Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Ellington died Tuesday at College Station Medical Center. She had been a resident of Bryan-College Station since 1962 and had lived previously in Houston. She was the co-owner of the first Baskin-Robbins in the area. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the League of Women Voters and was an Honored Lady of the Brazos Valley Shrine Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Tullous and Buna Ross Tullous; husband, Bernard “Duke” Ellington; daughter, Martha Ellington Hill and brother, Sam Tullous, a former Bryan Chief of Police.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Ellington Hill of College Station and Peggy Ellington and John Sorenson of Spring; grandchildren, Kirsten Hawkes of Huntsville, Karis Perry of Tuscaloosa, AL, Kala Ann Sorenson of Houston, Craig Hill of League City, Scott Hill of Montgomery and nine great-grandchildren.
