The month of February holds many chances to reveal your heart to one you love. Tickets to the following fun events will surely bring joy to your special one. This Sunday, Feb. 10, the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra presents “From Classics to Jazz,” featuring Rob Clearfield (grandson of BCS’s own Dr. Abe and the late Ruth Clearfield), talented jazz pianist and composer from Chicago. Rob has prepared a program of original music for string orchestra and jazz quartet.
No stranger to the Brazos Valley, Rob Clearfield has performed with the BVSO before. As a talented composer and musician based in Chicago, Rob is special here because of the community’s love for his grandmother, the late Ruth Clearfield, one of the leaders in promoting and leading the arts in Bryan-College Station, and his internationally respected grandfather, Dr. Abraham Clearfield, Professor Emeritus in the Texas A&M Department of Chemistry.
Rob will be accompanied by Caroline Davis (alto sax), Sam Weber (bass), and Allan Mednard (drums). Marcelo Bussiki, Music Director of the BVSO, has once again programmed an excellent year for the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra.
Two vital fundraisers occur this month that support local groups with their proceeds. First is Saturday, Feb. 16, Hospice Happening 2019 fills the Brazos County Expo Center. The Texas Unlimited Band will provide music, while dinner, casino games, and dancing help raise money for Hospice Brazos Valley. This year Hospice BV celebrates 30 years of vital care for your loved ones. We appreciate their caring professionals who love those we love, providing end-of-life care with respect and compassion.
If you’ve never been to one of these special events, you’ll be surprised at how many friends and neighbors will be right next to you, as you enjoy an evening of casino games for a great cause. The money and time you spend will stay in the Brazos Valley, as so many of our loved ones receive the best possible palliative care from the superb qualified professionals on the Hospice team. They do for our loved ones what we cannot do ourselves.
Hospice Brazos Valley also offers support and education for those whose families involve caring for dementia and Alzheimer’s. This organization offers compassion, hope, caring, and friendship to all. Your support of this important event is well deserved. Call (979) 821-2266 for tickets. Casual to sporty dress.
Saturday, Feb. 23, Heart Ball 2019 happens at Miramont Country Club in Bryan, with The Argyles performing for the popular annual event, which started in 1995. This year’s theme is “Heart of Gold.” The black tie event is unforgettable, with amazing food and decorations as the American Heart Association celebrates Heart survivors. Funds raised ultimately return here as grants to Texas A&M heart research. The exciting event takes place inside a lovely tent staged on the golf course.
Talented committee members create unforgettable decorations, the Miramont chef prepares a heart-healthy menu for guests, and the music goes nonstop for people to enjoy dancing or listening to favorite songs. The Argyles, an eight-member band from Houston, are making another return engagement to the Heart Ball as they play Motown/R&B, Funk, Disco, Hip-Hop, Rock, Country, and Pop. Black tie encouraged. The event sells out, so don’t wait. Call 268-0068 for tickets.
Taking the one you love to any of these special events offers a great reason to dress up for a special evening, for the perfect Valentine’s month celebration.
