Sally Ann Lane formerly of Bryan passed away Friday July 14, 2017, at West Oaks Nursing Home in Houston.
Sally was born in Marlin, Texas on November 13, 1945 the daughter of Drury and Mary Elizabeth (Steele) Lane. She grew up in Bryan, before moving to Virginia with her family when she was in the 11th grade. Sally attended Longwood College in Virginia and then Sam Houston State before becoming a stewardess with Pan Am and then United Airlines for over 30 years. She lived in the bay area of San Francisco.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents and by her sisters Virginia Morse and Barbara Nitchie Graves and her brother-in-law Lonnie H. Graves, and by her nephew John Drury Graves.
She will be missed by her brother William R. Lane and by her nieces Judith Griffin and husband Dan, Victoria Ann Kiddy and husband Bobby, Mary Elizabeth Graves and partner Trish, and Pam Grossman and husband Barry, and by her nephew Lonnie H. Graves Jr., and many great and great great nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the love and care Sally received for the past 5 years at West Oaks Nursing and Rehab at 3625 Green Crest, Houston, TX 77082 and requests any memorial be sent there.
Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers of Bryan College Station, Texas.
So sorry to hear that Sally has passed away. We were friends in elementary school, but I had lost touch with her.
Mother & I were so saddened by reading of Sally’s death. The last time we talked with her at length was when my father Dr. A.G. McGill was in St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan for the last time. He died in Oct. 2002. Sally was there to visit an in law. She looked lovely and was just beginning to show signs of disability. We traded contact info but after Dad died I spent much more time with Mom. No more visits in person, sadly. Mom is 96 y.o. in Generations nursing care in Bryan & I have also moved back to Bryan. We would enjoy visits with Sally’s friends & survivors. Much love.

For some reason I started thinking about Sally today. I looked her up and am saddened to learn of her illness and death. Sally and I had some great times in Jr high in Bryan. We moved in 8th grade. We wrote for some time then lost touch.
