Rosalinda “Rosie” Hernandez

Rosalinda “Rosie” Hernandez, 75, of Bryan, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Callaway-Jones, with interment to follow at the Bryan City Cemetery.

Rosie was born February 10, 1938, to Cecilio and Pauline Vasquez in Houston, Texas. She spent a majority of her life in Georgetown, Texas, and moved to Bryan in the 1960’s, where she raised three children. Rosie became a member of San Paulo Iglesia Methodista Unida. She enjoyed playing the piano and enjoyed spending time with family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grand children, especially cooking for them. For the last seven years she was a resident at Lampstand Health and Rehab where she enjoyed visiting with fellow residents and participating in the various activities, with her signature red lipstick.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Billy Salinas; sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Lee Hernandez, Robert and Debbie Hernandez; brothers, Danny Vasquez and wife Lois, Jessie Pintor; sisters, Alice Trejo, Esther Zavala and husband Larry, Josie Escalante, Rachel Hernandez; eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her memory to the Lampstand Residence Trust Fund at 2001 E 29th St., Bryan, TX 77802.
