Patricia Mumford

Pat grew up in Kingsville, TX and graduated from H.M. King High School with honors, where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen in 1963. Pat attended North Texas State University (now, the University of North Texas) from 1963 to 1965. Pat attended Texas A&M University from 1967 to 1969, receiving a BS in Secondary Education, with teaching fields in Business Administration and Mathematics. She was on the Dean’s List frequently and graduated as Outstanding Student in Secondary Education. Upon receiving her Bachelor’s Degree, Pat was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Scholastic Honor Society. She continued her education at Texas A&M University from 1969 to 1971 and received an MS in Sociology. Pat worked for a couple of businesses before joining Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, being promoted many times from first-line Supervisor to Methods Analyst to Director, to Human Resources-Employee Relations during her 18-year tenure. She had to resign due to disability.
Pat leaves behind one son, James Forrest “Tad” Fifer II and his wife Alina, and her twin grandchildren Sophie and Travis. She also leaves behind her step-son Kenneth Fifer and his wife Amy, and two step-grandchildren, Megan and Sam. Pat also leaves behind her sister Janet Mumford Hirt and her husband Larry Wayne Nath Hirt, their children, and their families.
A memorial service is set for 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Colllege Station, Texas. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center in Bryan College Station.
