I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
Bill Groff, 76, of New Braunfels, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2024, after struggling with health issues for several years. Bill was born July 2,1948, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Francis and Thelma Groff. He attended Garden Spot High School in New Holland, Pennsylvania, where he was introduced to the love of his life, Sue. Bill and Sue were married in Sembach, Germany in 1969, during his service in the United States Air Force. After returning to the states, Bill and Sue settled in Stillwater, Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma State University where he earned an Engineering degree and was a member of Triangle Fraternity – OSU Chapter ‘74. He enjoyed corporate work in Virginia and Texas until the late 90’s, when Bill and Sue opened Country Faire in downtown New Braunfels, Texas.
Bill was an avid woodworker and woodcarver who enjoyed being part of the New Braunfels Wood Carvers. Bill also loved fast cars, trains, MoTown music, time at the beach with his family and reading his Bibles or anything military related. He believed in patriotism and had pride in America. His passion in life was to love and serve others, especially his wife, Sue, who he cared for until the end.
Bill was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal and very brave. He was clever and full of knowledge he gained through life and work experiences, deep relationships, and the Word. He could fix anything and was willing to teach anyone that was willing to learn. He loved his children’s friends like they were his own and many customers and employees from their store were his life-long friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Ethan. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue, of 54 years, his children, Kellie Leifeste of Austin, Texas, and Katie and Brent Pfeiffer of College Station, Texas. His memory lives on through his grandchildren, Morgan, Samuel, Molly, Addie, Ellie and Evelyn. And brothers, Ronald Groff and Robert Groff and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Our King Anglican Church in New Braunfels, Texas on Monday, August 5th at 10:30am. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Historic Poole Forge at https://historicpooleforge.org/donations/.
