William Padric Mullins

October 14, 1965 — February 6, 2023

Mr. William Padric Mullins (Pat), 57 of Bryan, passed away on 6 February 6, 2023at St. Joseph’s Regional Health Center in Bryan, TX from ongoing health issues. Pat was born October 14, 1965 at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. He moved to College Station in the fall of 1984. He lived in Houston, TX from January 1968 to Fall 1984 and then in Athens, TX from August 1966 to July 1967.

For nearly 40 years, Pat was an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), where he was known as Paedric OMullan and served as Historian. He could often be found at SCA events, teaching classes on pewter pouring, making mead, or serving as camp bard. He will be remembered fondly for the songs and tales he wrote and shared around the campfire.

From the time he was born, Pat brought a different angle and energy to life around him. The youngest of four children, he was creative, funny, brilliant, goodhearted and more than a little mischievous. Born prematurely, he kept us on our toes almost from the moment he arrived, but he always gave his heart and soul to everything and everyone he cared about.

Throughout his life Pat was an avid reader and puzzle solver, always driven to keep his mind active, even as his body began to fail him. He also remained a devoted sports fan, cheering on his “home” teams: the Houston Oilers, Texans, and most especially the Houston Astros and Texas Aggies.

Just as Pat came into the world early, he departed much too soon. His heart simply could no longer handle the job. Without him, the world will be a calmer, but much emptier place to live.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Frances Sherrill Mullins and Capt. Robert (Bob) Rankin

Mullins. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth (Betsy) Jaka of Rio Rancho, NM, brother Robert (Bob) Mullins, of Escondido, CA, and brother Charles Mullins of Chico, CA, and his nephew Chris Jaka of San Diego, CA and niece Sarah Jaka, of Albuquerque, NM.

At Pat’s request, there will be no funeral. His friends in the SCA will hold a private wake at a later date, to be determined.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center.
