Wanda Hall, 91 years of age, passed on Sunday, December 11, 2022 in Bryan, Texas. Wanda was born on March 30, 1931 in Socorro, New Mexico to the late George and Oma Manning. Preceding her in death were two older brothers. Wanda graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1949.
In 1950, Wanda married her sweetheart, L.M. “Scratch” Hall and soon moved to Petersburg, Texas where they raised their two daughters. They loved living in the small, family oriented community for 31 years. Wanda and Scratch moved to Bryan College Station in 1981 and have remained there for the past 41 years.
Wanda accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age. She and her family were very active in the Petersburg Church of the Nazarene with Wanda leading the children’s church and playing the piano and organ for congregational worship. She loved working in the church and cherished praising the Lord with her family and friends. She served within numerous Texas Public Schools for 35 years; secretary to the superintendent/ high school principal in Petersburg, TX; secretary to the principal at Kemp Elementary, Bryan ISD; and secretary to the counseling center at Stephen F Austin Middle School, Bryan ISD. Wanda retired from Bryan ISD in 2000.
Wanda loved reading her Bible, praying for and with others, spending time with her family, laughing, and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, nana, and friend, always thinking of others first. She loved to pour into people. “To know Wanda was to love her.”
Wanda loved and cherished her family. She leaves behind her 95-year old husband, “Scratch”, who she was married to for 72 years. Wanda would say that her greatest joy was being a mother and mother-in-law to her two daughters and their husbands: Karen Hall Nave and Mike Nave of Peoria, AZ; Janis Hall Greeno and David Greeno of Bryan, TX. She found “hope in the future” with her five grandchildren and their spouses: Shawn and Carissa Nave of Tucson, AZ; Brant and Carissa Nave of Camarillo, CA; Kristin and Jason Allen of Austin, TX; Jance and Rebekah Nave of Waco, TX; and Tiffany and Ben Hamlin of Killeen, TX. Wanda has 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who adore her. They would all say that “Heaven became an even sweeter place when Nana/Wanda arrived”!
