Tereza “Terry” Zalmanek, 74 of Bryan, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, in Round Rock. Visitation will begin at 10 am, with a rosary recited at 10:45, her Celebration of Life Tribute will begin at 11:15am, Wednesday, August 11, 2021 all at the funeral center. Inurnment will follow in Rest Ever Memorial Park Cemetery; officiating service is her nephew Deacon Fred Molina. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
Terry was married to her husband Charles (Chuck) Zalmanek Jr. for sixteen years. She was born to Henry (Genaro) and Melitona Lira Alvarez in Burleson County, Texas on October 15, 1946. She was a career hair stylist in the Bryan/College Station area, loved children and was first an aide, then a music instructor at St. Anthony Day Care Center. She had a quirky sense of humor and enjoyed playing fun practical jokes on family. Always a generous and giving person Terry did not cherish material things. She loved swimming in her pool, adored her grandchildren, enjoyed Tejano/Country music/dancing as well as vacationing at the Galveston beach house and taking cruises with Chuck. Always a true friend but more importantly Terry was a true Christian and never wavered from her strong belief in our Lord.
Terry was preceded in death by her parents, her sons, Stacy Lorenzo Mendez and Robert Mendez, Jr., her sister, Francis Alvarez; her brothers-in-law, Fred Molina, Jr., Erasmo Arriaga and Charles Palermo and mother-in-law, Miriam Norcross Palermo Zalmanek.
Terry is survived by her husband Chuck Zalmanek Jr., her sons, Steven Patrick and wife Rebekah Mendez; Justin Alan Zalmanek, her grandchildren, Gaven Seth Schultz, Patrick Stacy Mendez, and Lilly Sofia Mendez; her brothers, Jesse Alvarez (Vangie) and Mark Alvarez (Theresa); her sisters, Janie Molina, Berta Reyes (Sam), Patricia Alvarez, Flora Alvarez Albarado, Dolores Stephens (Jimmy); father-in-law, Charles Zalmanek Sr., brother in-law, Frank Palermo (Kathy), sisters-in-law, Kathy Patranella (Vince), Debbie Paine (Hank), Donna Graul (Mike), Valerie Dockery (John), Sally Belt (Tony), and Janet Palermo; and other relatives and friends.
Terry will always be in our hearts; may God bless her soul.
