Sylvia Maria Norton

December 14, 1952 — February 17, 2024

Sylvia Morris Norton, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away on February 17, 2024.

Sylvia was born on December 14, 1952 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. She was adopted by a loving U.S. Army Colonel and his wife who were stationed in Germany, eventually returning to settle in Waco, Texas. In 1985, she married the love of her life, John. In 1991, they welcomed their daughter Nicole and the family was complete.

To know Sylvia was not just to love her—it was also to be loved by her. She had the biggest heart and compiled her “extended family” of lifelong and new friends alike. She never met a stranger and was quick to compliment, never holding back a smile or a hug. Her love for animals rivaled her love for people, with her late doberman Samantha being one of her greatest loves. She was an artist who was always gifting thoughtful creations and encouraging others to find their creativity as well.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her mother and father, Edith and Lee Morris. She is survived by her husband, John Norton, and daughter, Nicole Norton and her fiancé Brandon Forster, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Sylvia’s family is honoring her wish not to have a memorial service or funeral. In lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, please consider donating to your local animal shelter in her name.
