Suzanne Breit

June 28, 1940 — January 29, 2025

Bryan, Texas

Suzanne Breit, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, at the age of 84 after a long illness.

Sue was born in Danville, VA on June 28, 1940, the first of five children of Frances Garrett Williams and Captain Robert Jay Williams. Sue’s family moved many times as she was growing up due to her Dad’s U.S. Naval career. She was a cheerleader at Falls Church, VA High School but moved during her senior year to Virginia Beach, VA in 1958. During high school she dated West Point cadet Bill Breit. Sue and Bill were engaged after she graduated from Virginia Beach High School, and married at the Ft. Myers Chapel in Virginia after Bill graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1960.

Their son, Scott, was born in 1961. A second son, John, came soon after in 1963. A loving and supportive military wife, Sue moved the family to many different military bases as Bill pursued a career in the Army; including a move to stay with her family when Bill served in Viet Nam. In 1976, the family moved to Ft. Hood, Texas where Sue earned her Bachelor of Education degree from Mary Hardin Baylor in 1983. Bill and Sue moved to Ft. Worth where Sue worked as an elementary school teacher in the Ft. Worth ISD. After 20 years in Ft. Worth, they moved several times living in locations including Colorado, the Hill Country and Virginia. In 2017 they returned to central Texas and settled in Georgetown (Sun City), where they enjoyed living until 2021 when they moved to College Station. Bill passed away in 2021 and Sue moved to Anointed House in Bryan, TX where she received wonderful care until her passing.

Throughout her life Sue loved gardening and animals, especially the family dogs which she and Bill doted on. Sue also loved her family and never forgot her relatives “back home” in Virginia.

In the 1970’s Sue was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Sue kept her effervescent personality and positive attitude throughout her fight with the disease and never failed to light up any room she was in just by smiling.

Sue is survived by her children, Scott and his wife Jackie of Manhattan, KS; John and his wife Lori of Stoughton, WI; her grandchildren, Cassie (27), Samantha (24), Carolyn-Paige (23) and Connor (19); her brothers Bob Williams, Jack Williams and his wife Connie, and Rick Williams and his wife Carolyn; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 5, 2025 at 2pm at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, 3001 S. College Ave in Bryan, TX 77801 with internment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Monday, April 7.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to Meisha and her staff at Anointed Home in Bryan, TX for their devoted care of Sue during her last two years of life. We are blessed for their compassion and handling of her passing in a graceful manner.

Donations can be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society or any Humane Society.
