Stella Garcia Lovato was born to Cruz T. Garcia and Juanita Vasquez Garcia on November 5, 1944 in Slaton, TX. She went to be with our Lord on May 12, 2023 in Bryan, TX with her family by her side. She grew up in Wolfforth, TX where she attended school at Frenship. Stella was employed by Huber’s Pawn Shop, Jim Lester’s Pharmacy, Swat’s Pawn Shop, Global Pharmacy (Owner Henry Dominguez) and UMC Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician and with Insurance Reimbursement for UMC. Stella was a devout Catholic and was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (Lubbock, TX). She taught CCD, was a Eucharistic Minister and she especially enjoyed her fishing booth every year at the annual Jaimaca. Tia Stella was known for her generosity with her nieces and nephews always having jars full candy to spoil them with.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Cruz R. Garcia, sister Emma Garcia Llanas and nephews Thomas Edward Garcia, Paul “Sugar Bear” Garcia, Andrew Garcia, T.J. Dawson, and George Garcia; nieces Rachel Garcia High and Martina Limon and the father of her children, Marcello Willie “Smiley” Lovato, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Yvonne Lovato Bonnett, son Marcelo E. “Eddie” Lovato, III and wife Janette, grandchildren, Marianna Stella Lovato, Joshua Leon Lovato, Gabriella Ann Lovato; brothers Jesse J. Garcia and Eusebio Garcia; sister Martina Garcia de Garcia and Frances Flores; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation will begin on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at the Callaway-Jones Funeral Home, 3001 S. College Ave., Bryan, TX 77801. There will be a funeral procession to the church where a Resurrection Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 507 E. 26th St., Bryan, TX 77803. Interment will follow at the City of Bryan Cemetery.
