Shirley Drozd Fowler passed away peacefully the morning of Wednesday, January 1, 2025, with the love of her family surrounding her.
Shirley was born in Bryan, Texas to Clinton & Ruby Hayes on January 31, 1937. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Bryan, Texas. She married the love of her life, Victor B. Drozd, in 1952 and chose to raise their family in Bryan. Shirley started her catering business, Plantation Catering, in 1971. She catered a multitude of weddings and decorated the most beautiful cakes until she closed her business in 2001, after the passing of her husband. She married Louis Fowler in 2003. The two of them loved traveling, live music and playing games with their friends.
Shirley loved being with her family. She loved nothing more than being a grandmother, great grandmother and even a great-great grandmother. She was so proud of all her children and grandchildren and displayed all their pictures and accomplishments throughout her home. She never passed up a chance to brag on her family. Shirley was a devout Christian. She shared her love for the Lord with her family and friends. Shirley was an avid baker and gardener. She leaves behind some of the best recipes including recipes for her delicious kolaches and chicken & dumplings.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Clinton & Ruby Hayes, her husband Victor B. Drozd, her husband Louis Fowler, her infant Son Christopher Drozd, three infant grandchildren: Christopher, Lacey Jo & Kelsey Smith, her Daughter Vickie Ann Zweifel and her brother Charles Hayes.
She will be missed by her children: her sons Victor Drozd Jr. & wife Rosemary and Mark Drozd & wife Amy, her daughter Brenda Smith & husband Joe and son in law Larry Zweifel; her stepsons Daniel & David Fowler; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her sisters: Betty Hayes Powell & husband Bill, Barbara Stang and sister in law Mary Hayes; as well as numerous nieces & nephews, extended family members and friends.
The family wants to thank her caregiver and friend, Ms. Sonji Blue. The amount of care and love Ms. Blue provided our mother can never be matched and we can never thank you enough. A special thank you to the staff at Sodalis Senior Living and Luminos Hospice.
There will be a Rosary on Sunday, January 5th at 5:30pm with visitation following at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory 3001 S College Ave. in Bryan. Mass and funeral services will be on Monday, January 6th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church 507 E. 26th St. in Bryan and internment will follow at Restever memorial Park in Bryan.
