Sarah Trujillo, 83, of Calvert, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 in Calvert. Visitation will begin at 5 pm with family reflection and rosary at 7:30 pm, Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the funeral center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne. Interment will be in San Jose’ Cemetery in Hearne. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
Sarah Trujillo was born to Teofilio Ortega and Teodora Deanda Ortega in Calvert, Texas on March 17, 1938. Raised in Calvert, she was the youngest of five. Sarah attended Calvert school. She later went on to marry Luz ‘Butch” Trujillo and together they had seven wonderful children. Sarah worked for Alenco in Bryan for 20 plus years until she retired. She adored her family and enjoyed spending time and caring for them. She was strong and independent and worked hard to provide for her family. Her grand and great children meant the world to her and she loved them dearly. She loved her 5 dogs, going shopping to Wal-Mart and HEB, crocheting, puzzle books, lottery tickets, collecting dolls and traveling. Sarah had a wonderful personality, a heart of gold and a smile brighter than the sun. She was kind and caring and never met a stranger..Sarah remarried to Juan Valencia Avalos and they spent the rest of her days happily together. When she became ill, she never let that break her spirit and showed just how strong and courageous she was. She was a Hero to her family. She was known and loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Tiofilo and Teodora “Lola” Ortega; her first husband Luz “Butch” Trujillo; her four siblings, Carmen Robles, Dominga, Refugia “Cuca”,Teofilo “Joe,” Ortega II and great grandson Grayson Raul Campos.
She is survived by her husband, Juan Valencia Avalos; her daughters,Rosemary Martinez and husband Otilio of College Station, Texas, Sylvia Pena of Bryan, Texas, Lydia Trujillo of Calvert, Texas, Carolyn Rios of Calvert Texas, Rita Trujillo of Bryan, Texas, Rebecca Trujillo of Hearne, Texas; her son, Jerry Trujillo and wife; Zulma, Leticia of College Station, Texas,
Honoring her life as Pallbearers are: Pablos Rios, Marcus Trujillo, Amador “Max” Jimenez, Manuel Mendieta, Anthony Pena, Martin Munos, Cristian Moncada, Fabian Trujillo and Pascal Mwelwa. Honorary Pallbearers are Brayden Trujillo, Lincoln Trujillo, Kasen Trujillo, Christopher Nelson and Jose “Cowboy” Rincon, Angel Trujillo and Aldo Trujillo.
