Sarah Lynne Davis

October 27, 1934 — December 30, 2022

Sarah Lynne Harder Davis passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2022, with family members by her side.  She was surely welcomed to her heavenly home by family, friends and pets who have gone before her.  A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Lynne’s life at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 3:00pm.

Lynne was the first born to parents Thurman Howland “Skeet” Harder and Nelle Margarite Curtis Harder in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Completing the young Harder family were two brothers, Douglas and David.  As a child, the family moved to many locations following her dad’s occupation with an oil company.  They lived and had fond memories of Houston, TX, Lafayette and Monroe, LA, Casper, WY, and Denver, CO.  She attended high school in Casper, WY, making many life-long friends.  At the University of Wyoming, she met and married Robert S. Halliwell and started a family with three children:  Mark, Lisa, and Blair Halliwell.  They relocated to College Station, TX.

In 1972 Lynne married Frank S. Davis combining families with children: Kathryn, Patricia, Frank Thomas, Mark, and Lea Davis.

Lynne had many interests. She was an avid reader of fiction, non-fiction, biographies and history. Travel to spend time with relatives in Colorado and Oklahoma were common.  She would not miss a chance for a picnic at the beach or a trek to the mountains to venture through small mountain towns.  Memorable excursions with relatives include San Francisco with Win and Patricia and Hawaii with Frank, her parents, and brothers and sisters in law. A Harder family reunion in Chama, NM, created life-long memories.

She had a passion for fun with her grandchildren.  Memories of grandchildren sleep-overs, card games, and cookie baking come to mind.  Sewing and creating costumes for Halloween was a specialty of hers.  The family could count on a large pot of chili with cornbread in the fall before walking over to watch the A&M Bonfire.

Her true mission in life was saving animals.  She had a huge heart for any animal especially dogs and cats.  She volunteered at the Brazos Animal Shelter bringing home many unadoptable animals.  Later she would foster pets from the shelter.

Lynne had a business mind.  She co-managed the family businesses: Brazos News and property management.

Lynne is preceded in death by her parents, Skeet and Nelle Harder and her sister-in-law Patricia Harder.

She is survived by her husband Frank S. Davis; children Kathryn Davis Noel and husband Jeffery; Mark S. Halliwell; Lisa Halliwell Burns and husband Scott; Patricia Davis Hall and husband Winthrop; Frank Thomas Davis and wife Brenda; R. Blair Halliwell; Mark Davis and wife Melissa; and Lea Davis.  Also, she is survived by her brother Douglas Harder and wife Carolyn; and brother David Harder.  Lynne leaves behind 26 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family especially thanks Lagina Lowery for her support and care of both Lynne and Frank through her illness. The Manor Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing staff as well as the care group from Traditions Hospice are truly angels on Earth. We thank them for the patient, loving, compassionate care and support for the family emotionally and spiritually.
