Ruth Irene Clark

August 23, 1936 — February 1, 2024

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved grandmother, Mum, on February 1, 2024, at the age of 87.  Surrounded by the love of her family, she gracefully transitioned to her eternal home in Heaven, leaving a legacy of cherished memories and unfailing love that will forever live in our hearts.

Ruth Irene Clark “Mum” was born on August 23, 1936, in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  At the youthful of age of seventeen she married the love of her life Charles “Sam” Clark and raised two endearing daughters Kimery Fousek and Marcia Ponton.   Mum was the epitome of devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She embodied the true spirit of love, compassion, and unwavering faith throughout her remarkable life. Her radiant smile and gentle demeanor touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to meet her.

A devout Christian, Mum lived a life guided by her steadfast faith in the teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her commitment to Gods word was evident in every aspect of her life, from the way she treated others with kindness to the selfless acts of love she extended to her family, friends, and community.

Family was the cornerstone of Mum’s life. She took immense pleasure in creating a warm and loving home, where laughter, love, and the aroma of her delicious cooking and baking filled the air.  Although a proud Mother to Kim and Marcia, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took pride in nurturing their hearts and minds with the values she held dear.

In addition to her role as a devoted family woman, Mum was known for her generosity.  She was always first to offer a helping hand to those in need to those she knew and unknown. Her charitable deeds, motivated by her Christian faith, touched the lives of many, making her a beacon of light to all.

In passing Ruth “Mum” Clark joins her husband of 70 years Sam “Paps” Clark, sister Martha “Aunt Marty” husband Frank “Uncle Frank” Cunningham, sister Mary Lou Widener, brother Bob Lester and brother, George William Lester Jr.  She is survived by her loving daughters Kim and husband Paul Fousek, Marcia and husband Colton Ponton and her adoring grandchildren Renee and husband David Marberry, David and wife Trisha Drury, Samantha and husband Andrew Aubry, Robert Burns, Kandi Burns and fiance Kevin.  As well as great-grandchildren Jason Grant and Kayla Goin, Braxton, Aubrie and Miley Burns, Aria and Bryson Aubry, Lucchese and Jolene Drury, Charli, Brycen and Callie Marberry who shared in the joys and love of her journey through life.

A viewing will be held Wednesday February 7, 2024 from 5-7pm at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center in Bryan.  Memorial service to celebrate Ruth Irene Clark’s life will commence on Thursday February 8, 2024 10:30am at Bethel Lutheran Church with burial service immediately following at Bryan City Cemetery Veterans Section.  Friends and family are invited to join in the remembrance and celebration of a life beautifully lived and offer support to each another during this time of grief.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, a sanctuary close to Mum’s heart.

As we bid farewell to our beloved Mum, we find solace in the knowledge of serenity she felt in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration for us all!

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” – Proverbs 31:28
