Robert Charles Reese

Robert Charles Reese was born in Ballinger, Texas to Raleigh A. Reese and Frances Harvey Reese on August 4, 1938, and passed away December 8, 2022 in Bryan, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Raleigh A. Reese, II of Eugene, Oregon and cousin, William Harvey Flynt of Lubbock, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Anne Castle Reese of Bryan, Texas; son Samuel Jacob Reese (wife Julianna) and granddaughter Brooklyn Mae Reese of Christoval, Texas; sister Frances K. Hannah of Denton, Texas (children Holly, Stephen and Darin); sister-in-law Marita Reese, Eugene, Oregon (children Roddy, Leslie, Paige, Shannon and Patrick); and cousins Jimbeth Hite (husband James) of Caldwell, Texas and Linda Flynt of Lubbock, Texas.

After high school Robert was awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University on May 25, 1963, and a Masters of Business Administration on May 24, 1969.

On July 26, 1963, he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves and began active duty on November 17 at the Army’s Armor Training Center at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He was awarded the Army Commendation Metal for outstanding performance of duty as Company Commander, Squadron Maintenance Officer and Executive Officer, 5th Recon Squadron, Armor Division from May 24, 1964, until his discharge from active duty on November 17, 1965.

Robert and Margaret then returned to Abilene, Texas where he was enrolled in the Management Training Program of Sears Roebuck & Co. It was at Sears, Robert was renamed “Bob” by store employees.

He returned to Texas A&M in May 1968 to pursue a master’s degree and was soon hired by A&M as Placement Director in the Office of Development & Placement where he remained until 1973.

Between 1973 and 1977 Bob was the director of Midwest Video in Bryan before partnering with Frank and Trey Thurmond in 1978 to open Classic Realty and develop subdivisions in the Brazos Valley.   In the mid-80’s Bob opened his own real estate company where he worked until retirement in 2016.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 10 am at the College Station City Cemetery located at 2530 Texas Avenue South, College Station, TX 77840 under the direction of Callaway Jones Funeral Home. Express condolences at www.callawayjones.com
