Robert Jensen, 61, of Bryan, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, in Bryan. Visitation will begin at 2pm until the time of service at 3pm, Friday, April 30, 2021 at the funeral center. Due to the COVID Pandemic face mask or face covering are requested by the family at all times during services. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
Robert was born in Lufkin, TX to Roberta Ann (Grimm) Jensen and John Duncan Jensen Sr. His father was military, so the family moved quite a bit, eventually settling in Odessa, TX. Robert attended Odessa Junior College, Blinn Junior College and Texas A&M University.
He worked in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M for 35 years. During his employment he won many awards, the Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence-1995; Department of Entomology Meritorious Service Award-1996; President’s Meritorious Service Award-2008; and the Vice Chancellor’s Awards in Excellence –Staff Awards Business and Operational Staff-2020. Robert served on numerous committees including the Faculty/Staff Parking Appeals Board and was SEBAC Representative for the Texas AgriLife Research.
Robert was an avid bowler. He served the Brazos Valley USBC as President, the Texas State USBC as a Director, and was a Delegate to the United States Bowling Congress Convention. He was a league Secretary for the Moonlighters Men’s League for many years. In 2020,
Robert was inducted into the Brazos Valley USBC Hall of Fame for his service to bowlers. He made many friends across Texas and in other states throughout his years of bowling.
Robert was a kidney transplant recipient and met his donor’s family, to whom he was always grateful for their gift of life. He was a very friendly person, never met a stranger, and was liked by all who knew him. He always had a smile and encouraged others to achieve their goals. He was willing to do anything asked of him and always did it lovingly.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law Billy Joe Daughtry.
He is survived by life partner of 35 years Larry Daughtry; his brother, John Duncan Jensen Jr. (Sheri) of Oakland CA.; sister, Cathy Marie Scott (Kenneth) of Odessa TX.; mother-in-law, Laverne Lucille Daughtry of Bryan TX.; sisters-in-law, Sherry Lynn Daughtry of Hattiesburg PA. and Beverly Ann Davis of Brownwood TX.; nephew and niece, Shawn Alan and Shannon McPheirson of Hattiesburg PA.; nieces, Brittany Davis and Courtney Davis of Belton, TX., and a multitude of friends – all of whom he dearly loved and who truly loved him.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Bowlers Veterans League (BVL)
