Robert Allen “Bob” Fleischer, of Bryan, Texas, passed away peacefully in College Station on July 3, 2023, at the age of 89. A celebration of Bob’s life is scheduled for Saturday, July 15 at 3:00 PM at Christ Church in College Station. A reception will follow the service.
Bob was born on August 16, 1933, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Irene and Robert E Fleischer. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin. Upon graduation, Bob entered the US Air Force. He served for three years from 1955-1958 and rose to the rank of Captain and served in the Strategic Air Command as a Navigator/Bombardier on a B-47 aircraft.
After serving in the Air Force, Bob Married Annette in 1958.
Once his service was complete, Bob began his journalism career. He started as a reporter in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. Bob’s next step in Journalism was a move to Clinton Iowa, where they would add two sons, Rob and Ricky to complete their family. The newspaper business would then take him to Enid Oklahoma, Naples, Florida and finally to Bryan College Station where he would be the Managing Editor at the Eagle. After working at the Eagle for a short time, he became the Executive Director of the Brazos Valley United Way for 17 years until he retired.
When the family moved to Texas, everyone became instant Aggies and Bob was an avid sports fan. He also loved playing golf and played often with a large group of friends. He was also a fan of the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers (he frequently bragged about his one share of stock in the Packers).
Bob became active in the community and was a 50-year member of the College Station Noon Lions Club. He also enjoyed singing in his Church choir up until the time of his recent illness. He also served as treasurer of the Brazos Valley Chorale during that time frame as well.
Bob and Ann would have been married for 65 years on July 12, 2023. A married life that God blessed them with many happy times and always knowing that their Lord was by their side.
Bob leaves behind his wife Ann; sons Rob and Ricky; daughters-in-law Erin and Angelique and grandchildren Brent, Collin, Annareese and Brayden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob’s memory to the sanctuary choir at Christ Church or a charity of their choice.
