Pedro Guajardo

February 23, 1952 — April 30, 2023

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Matthew 5:8

Pedro (Peter) Guajardo heard the Lord’s voice and was given Eternal Life on April 30, 2023.  He was 71 years old, born on February 23, 1952 with a pure heart of gold.  He was a dedicated server to the Lord, and loved his family and friends very much.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Guajardo and father, David Guajardo Sr., Sister, Leonor Rios, and brothers, Joe Guajardo (Felisa), Louis Guajardo, and Willie Guajardo.  He is survived by his sisters, Lydia Ramos (Al+), Lupe Barrera (Manuel+), and brothers, David Guajardo Jr., and Sotero Guajardo (Lupe), and many much loved nieces and nephews.

Peter grew up in Bryan and had many friends in which he loved to visit.  You could often see him walking along the neighborhood to visit many of them, giving a special joy to all. Along with his Mother, Peter was a member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church and attended Mass on Sundays.  He also volunteered his time to serve at church functions especially with the Guadalupanas in which his Mother was a member. He would also spend time with his father, assisting him in completing various projects around the house and in the yard.  He learned the names and how to use different tools from his father and his brother Joe whom he also rode with and helped in completing various work projects.  Peter loved all of his family with all of his heart, especially his mother Rosa.  They had a very special mother son relationship.  Right before his Mother Rosa passed way in January 2003, Peter whispered in her ear and assured her that he would be okay and that he would move to Austin to live with his sister Lydia and her family.  Lydia, her husband Al, and sons, Scott and Jacob embraced Peter, welcomed him to Austin and showed unconditional love.  Soon after, Al’s relatives also showed Peter the same love and he instantly became part of their extended family.  For the next 20 years, Peter became a blessing to all of the family.  In Austin, Peter became a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, where he also volunteered his time with the “Amigos Club” helping Al at the fajita booth at the church festivals. Because of his genuine friendliness that he learned in Bryan, it was easy for Peter to make new friends.  He enrolled in various life skill programs to help him become more independent and worked at Goodwill for a short period.  He loved to listen to music, as you would often see him with his CD player and CD’s.  Little Joe, Vicente Fernandez, and Emilio Navaira were some of his favorite singers.  He was the happiest when he would share his passion of music with you.  Just like his time in Bryan, Peter loved when the family would get together to celebrate special events.  He enjoyed seeing and visiting with all, and eating tamales, rice, beans, fajitas and all of the sweets.  Receiving additional CD’s as a gift was extra special for Peter.  But for family, Peter living in Austin was our gift and blessing that we will always be thankful for.  In September of 2022, Peter moved in to the Ross House in Austin.  He made many new friends, learned new skills and enjoyed some independence.  He was excited to see and experience new adventures.  He shared stories of going to the center, attending dances and hearing him say “I’m all right” always brought joy to our hearts.

What a Beautiful Heart and Soul, our Peter!  Everyone loved Peter as well as all of his family!  We take comfort knowing that our faith in the promises of God, Peter is rejoicing in Heaven with his wonderful parents, family and friends who have gone to be with the Lord!  When you pray the St. Francis of Assisi prayer: “Lord make me an instrument of Your Peace”, remember Peter because throughout his life, he was God’s instrument to all of us!  Peace and Joy to Peter!!

We would like to thank the staff and residents at Ross House in Austin for all of the love, care and support they showed Peter while living there.  May God’s Blessings be with all of you always!
