Pauline Basquez Garcia, 77, of Bryan, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on September 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 2, 1947, in Wheelock, Texas, Pauline dedicated her life to caring for others. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1965. After completing her nursing certification at The Bryan Public School of Vocational Training in 1970, she embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a nurse, retiring after 45 years of service. Her passion for helping others shone through in her work and the countless lives she touched, both professionally and personally.
Pauline was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her unwavering support, fiery spirit, and the strength she passed on to those around her. As the Matriarch of her family, she was a source of wisdom and guidance, and her influence will continue to shape their lives for generations to come.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos “Charlie” Basquez and Elena “Helen” Rodriquez; her sisters, Adale Johnson, Christine Basquez, Minnie Eastep, and Janie Sordia; and her son, John Robert Steven Curry.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Alex Garcia Soria; her beloved children, Olivia, Luis, and A.J.; her cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Donovan, Benjamin, Veronica, Dominick, Anthony, Cameryn, and Logan; her precious great-grandchildren, Levi and the three more on their way; her sister, Regina Marie Basquez; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly. Her legacy of love, strength, and resilience will live on in each of their hearts.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home (3001 S College Ave, Bryan, TX 77801). A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Bluebonnet Chapel of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Center (3001 S College Ave, Bryan, TX 77801). Graveside services will follow from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Bryan City Cemetery (1111 N Texas Ave, Bryan, TX 77803), where she will be laid to rest. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after, from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM, at the Fellowship Hall of Bryan Church of the Nazarene (2122 E William J Bryan Pkwy, Bryan, TX 77802, United States).
