Michael Paul Johnson
April 29th, 1954 – January 12th, 2022 A private service will be held at Callaway-Jones Funeral home followed by a private gathering at the family home.Michael Paul was born in Portland, Oregon, to Rose Virginia and Paul Henry Johnson. He grew up with his two brothers Tom and Dennis on North East Mallory in Portland. Where he graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in the spring of 1972, he worked as a welder and fabricator at Wagner Mining. He then married his first wife Gladys June Johnson in 1976. It was then that he adopted Lori and they had their son, Michael. Following their divorce he worked for Wackenhut on their security detail. It was there that he met and then married Karen Johnson. With this marriage he took in and raised John and Shelli as his own and in 1985, they had their daughter together, Kimberly. He went on to work at Oregon Steel Mills for 20 years as a welder, metal fabricator, and glassification coordinator. He also worked as a supervisor to the metal fabricators at Advanced American Construction for several years. He then worked for the USDA Forestry Service where he then retired. As a father he served as troop and den leader for the Boy Scouts of America and Order of the Arrow for 15 years. In his life he loved volunteering and helping others. He did so with the Clackamas County Gleaners driving a forklift, alongside his wife with the Canby Softball Association, Helping Hands Ministries, All Saints Catholic Church of North East Portland, and Troutdale Volunteer Fire Department. In his retirement he spent as much time as he could with his grandchildren working on various projects, attending school activities, and going on random adventures together. He also stood in happily to both Johannah and Skyler as their father as well as their Papa.
He is survived in death by his wife, Karen, daughter, Lori; son, Michael (wife Ashley), son, John; daughter, Shelli (and partner Joe); daughter, Kimberly. He is also survived by two brothers, Tom and Dennis; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, as well as many other family and friends.
