Michael O'Merion Williams '77

September 24, 1954 — October 9, 2022

Mike Williams, a devoted husband, dedicated father, and loving grandfather, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, October 9th, 2022. After several years battling illness and courageously fighting right up until the end, he passed away peacefully in his sleep amongst loved ones.

Mike was born to Carl and Margaret Williams on September 24th, 1954 in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Humble, Texas where he would graduate from Humble High School. He would then go on to attend Texas A&M University and graduate with a degree in Marketing as part of the class of 1977. While attending A&M, Mike would meet the love of his life, Janet. Mike would propose two months after meeting her, and they would spend 44 wonderful years together.

Mike’s career in oil and gas allowed him and Janet to live all over including stops in Texas, Alaska, Wyoming, and England. It is no surprise that Mike picked up friends all along the way. Making long-lasting friendships was something he did easily because he was genuine, dependable, and always put others first. He always did the right thing by others. Always. Even when it was not the easy thing to do. Mike always led by example and taught others how to lead from the front and was an impeccable model of integrity. Described by others as a true southern gentleman. He was honest and fair, and he worked incredibly hard to provide for his family and to ensure he gave his children every opportunity to build successful lives of their own.

He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, coaching and watching his kids play sports, watching Aggie football, and more than anything spending time with his family and working at the MAC Ranch. It was his small slice of heaven and a place he loved dearly.

Mike was a loving and devoted husband, a patient and affectionate father, and the greatest grandfather to his three grandchildren. Affectionately known as Bump by his grandkid, they were the light of his life and one of the things he was most proud of.

Mike was proceeded in death by his mother, Margaret Williams and his father, Carl Williams. He is survived by his wife Janet Williams; his sons Cody Williams; Matt Williams and his wife Kate Williams; his daughter Amy West and her fiancé Bobby Hale; his three grandchildren Macy West and Nolan and Barrett Williams; his sister Carla Novak, and niece Ashley Sutton.
