Michael DeWayne Franklin, also affectionally known as “Grumpy,” was born on May 14th, 1975 to loving parents Doris Loraine Luce, Milton Paul Franklin, and Matriarch Alicia Atkinson. He gained his wings of eternity on August 10th, 2023, at the age of 48 after losing the battle to pancreatic cancer. Michael was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and leader to many. His passing was surrounded by the warm embrace of his wife as the song “Angel Eyes” filled the air, creating an atmosphere of peace and remembrance. And although Michaels physical body has given weigh to the burdens of this world, his greatness transcends the boundaries of death. His greatness is not memorialized in stone statues or plaques, but in the heart and attitude of a humble servant. He was a man who consistently prioritized the needs of others over his own. This greatness lives on in all those who survived him. Michael Franklin was a constant presence, always ready to extend a helping hand, offer advice, or simply lend an ear. His impact was felt in his role as an ace mechanic and in every other way he could assist. This was never clearer than during his battle with cancer, where his strength devotion, and determination still remained unshaken, focused on those he loved. Now, guided by the same dedication, grace, and greatness, Michael’s journey continues as he prepares a place for his wife and forever sweetheart, Katrina Marie Franklin. He leaves behind three cherished children: Thai-Anthony Pointer, Michael DeWayne Franklin II, and Rebecca Loraine Franklin, as well as his beautiful cherished grandchildren: Hunter Franklin Welch, Arianna Pointer, Brylynn Pointer, Demitri Pointer, Cassiel Pointer, Vincent Franklin, Payton Franklin, and Gracie Franklin Siblings and spouses Milton Paul Franklin JR, Crystal Tole, Tracey Stone, and David Stone. Listing all those he loved and touched would require several more pages. Michael’s family invites you to join them in remembering and celebrating his life on August 29th, 2023, at 10 am for visitation, followed by services at 11 am. The event will be hosted by Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, located at 3001 South College Ave., Bryan, Texas 77801. In honor of Michael’s vibrant spirit, the family kindly requests that attendees refrain from wearing all black. Instead, they encourage everyone to wear white and bright colors, symbolizing that this is not a final farewell but a temporary separation until we reunite in the embrace of the Lord’s home.
