Maureen Carole Coveney

December 9, 1942 — September 12, 2024

Maureen Carole Coveney, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Madisonville, TX on September 12, 2024. Maureen was born December 9, 1942, in New Providence, New Jersey to Samuel Wallace Parcells and Margaret Cecelia Gannon. Throughout her lifetime, she lived in several places. Houston was where she lived the longest, but she also resided in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Florida, and California. She loved spending time at the shore.

On March 3, 1962, she married the love of her life, Francis Coveney in Summit, New Jersey. They were proudly married for over 55 years. Keeping her Fran in line was her full-time job! You knew not to cross her, or you would get the wooden spoon! For so many years she was a housewife, even more than that though, she was a loving daughter, friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the neighbor you always wanted, spending her weekends visiting and entertaining in the cul-de-sac with her neighbors. An amazing feat, Maureen proudly created and facilitated a non-profit liver transplant support group. In her spare time, she loved to craft, especially painting and crocheting items she shared with family, friends, and neighbors.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Paul Coveney of Orlando, Florida, and Patrick Coveney and his wife Rachel of North Zulch, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Christina Broche, Callie Shugart, Jacob Perry and his wife Lacey, Samantha Wolfe and her husband Hayden, Lauren Koch and her husband Andrew, Leah Siders and her husband Tanner, and Dylan Coveney; and 7 great grandchildren, Jael Broche, Kynley Scott, Lilah Perry, Saylor Perry, Hallie Perry, Ezra Koch, and Blaine Siders.

A visitation will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, September 19, 2024, followed by a memorial service at 2 pm at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 3001 S. College Avenue, Bryan, TX. Pastor Matt Murray of First Baptist Church of North Zulch will officiate. After the services, please join the family for a celebration of Maureen’s life at Pat and Rachel’s home: 10525 FM 1372, North Zulch, TX 77872. Ashes will go to Saint Theresa Cemetery Summit, NJ for inurnment. Express condolences with the family at www.CallawayJones.com.
