Mary Kinerd, 97, moved to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 17, 2021. She was a godly woman who deeply loved the Lord and her family. She set an example for her children, grand children and great grand children all their lives. Mary loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart and spreading God’s word. She was a powerful prayer warrior especially when teamed with her sister Charlene Oakes, choir member, Sunday School teacher of 5-year-old children for 65 years and a children’s choir director. Mary witnessed the story of Jesus to everyone she met and served as a Billy Graham crusade counselor. She was heavily involved in the mission work for her church, Windsor Park Baptist of Desoto, TX.
Mary was born in Sweetwater, TX on November 27, 1923 to Charles Edward and Sarah Jones. She married Thomas Elzie Kinerd on February 5, 1944 in Sweetwater, TX. Mary was a telephone operator for the Bell Systems, switchboard operator for the City of Amarillo and a long-distance operator for AT&T until she retired in 1975. She is survived by their sons: Van and wife Karen, Carl and wife Connie and Jimmy and wife Sandra. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Jason and wife Chastity, Becky Levy and husband Jeff, John Bazemore, Nicholas and wife Stacy, Kelli Korzen and husband Nicholas, Victoria, Colleen and Heather Kinerd; and seven great grandchildren: McCain and Hudson Kinerd, Kate, Davis and Grant Levy, Jayden Wang and Landon Korzen.
Mary will be escorted to her final resting place in Steep Hollow Cemetery by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
