Mary Kettrick Ellis

September 29, 1935 — November 26, 2024

Prosper, Texas

Mary Kettrick Ellis, 89, of Bryan, TX went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 26, 2024. A small family memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday April 5 at 10:00 AM at the Aggie Field of Honor, College Station TX.

Mary was born in Brenham, TX on September 29, 1935, to Sonny Charles Kettrick and Dolly Marjorie Duty. After graduating from Texas City High School, she married the love of her life, Newton Cass Ellis on July 16, 1954. They shared 65 wonderful years together and raised two children. Most of their married years were spent living in Bryan, Texas where she spent many years working in the Texas A&M ticket office. In the past few year, she lived in Tribute Senior Living community in Prosper, Texas. Her hobbies included attending her children and grandchildren’s activities, playing bridge with friends, spending hours watching a fishing bobber, cheering on the Aggies and making wonderful meals for her family. She was deeply proud of her family and loved sharing stories about them. Her faith in Jesus Christ was very important to her and she was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. She loved serving in her church and community and helping others. When she closed her eyes and drew her last breath here among us, she immediately opened her eyes in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Newton, parents Sonny and Dolly, and two sisters Wanda Woody and Alice Brandhorst. Mary is survived by her daughter, Lori Ellis of Celina, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Carole Ellis of McGregor, TX and sister, Vicki Peterson and her husband Jerry of Lancaster, WI. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jon Tyler Ellis and his wife, Sarah of Austin, TX and Hannah Ellis of Dallas, TX. The family would like to thank all the wonderful Doctors and staff at Tribute Senior Living. The family would like to also thank our family friend Rene' Graves who was a wonderful caregiver throughout Mom's journey and Kristin Bienvenu, LoveWell Hospice Care, who loved and cared for Mary and brought joy and happiness to her.
