Luella Jean Hubert, age 81, died on March 28, 2023, in her home in Bryan, Texas. Lu, as she was commonly known, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, having retired from a lifelong career as a Medical Technologist and Blood Bank Supervisor in 2011. Lu, born in Terra Haute, Indiana, was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in her hometown of Clinton, Indiana. Lu held a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Lu was preceded in death by step-daughter Kelly Hitchcock, of Bryan, Texas. Lu is survived by her husband, Jack T. Hubert, of Bryan, Texas, children Cathy Grabowski (Alice Lonsbury) of Bryan, Texas, Johnny Grabowski (Christy) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dee Dee Longenecker (Will) of Austin, Texas, Bobby Grabowski of College Station, Texas, Chug Hubert (Lynn) of Highland Branch, Colorado, Matt Hubert (Sara) of Fort Worth, Texas, grandchildren Joshua, Andrew, Austin, Aspin, Tyler, Brenna, Emma, Sydney, Megan, Christian and Tomas, as well as five great grandchildren and two sisters, Dee Nevares of North Lauderdale, Florida and Karen Blazek of Denver, North Carolina. In addition to spending time with her family, Lu enjoyed reading, traveling, researching genealogy, knitting, sewing, flower gardening, photography, singing karaoke and avoiding cooking.
A memorial service for Lu will be held at the Callaway-Jones Funeral Home Monday April 3, 2023 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Red Cross, Heart of Texas South, in Bryan, Texas.
