Lucien (Lu) Miles Harris

Lucien (Lu) Miles Harris, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle and friend passed away on Friday, August 11th surrounded by his wife and children. Lu’s funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 18th at St. Mary’s Catholic church, 603 Church Ave. at 2p.m. There will be a reception following the Mass at St. Mary’s. A Rosary will be prayed before the Mass at 1:00 p.m, for those interested in participating. The internment will be held on Saturday at the Aggie Field of Honor in College Station.

Lu was born to Martha Marggraf Harris and James Louis Harris in Houston, Texas. He spent most of his life in west Houston and Katy. He attended Stratford High School, Texas A&M University and earned his Masters degree from St. Thomas University. He was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets, Company I-1 and the Ross Volunteers while attending Texas A&M. He proudly served his country by taking a commission in the Army upon graduation, and continued serving in the Army Reserves during the 1980’s. Upon completion of his active duty, he worked for his father’s steel fabrication company, Rendrag, in Sealy. In 1983 he married the love of his life, Shari Masterson Harris, and his greatest joy in life was his family. Lu made family life a priority, and he cheered his children on from the stands and coached them in various sports. Lu had a passion for hunting, fishing, tailgating and spending time in the great outdoors with his many buddies. He switched careers in 1987 and had a long and successful career as a financial advisor and wealth manager. He became a Senior Vice President at RBC Wealth Management, and he enjoyed making meaningful connections with his clients for many years. Lu and Shari moved from Katy to College Station in 2014 and spent their free time supporting his beloved Texas Aggies by attending sporting events, OPAS performances, and serving as a class agent for the Class of ‘80. His love of Texas A&M inspired his two children and numerous nieces and nephews to follow in his footsteps.

Lu never met a stranger and could connect with people through his charm and sense of humor in a way that left everyone in awe. He loved God, his family, his friends, good food, great wine and bourbon. He had a passion for travel and planned many wonderful adventures for his family throughout his life. His two children and their spouses were his greatest source of pride and joy. He adored his grandchildren, and shared his love of fishing, hunting, the Astros and Aggie sports with them. Lu’s sense of humor was one-of-a-kind, and he is famous amongst his nieces and nephews for tales of the “Sidehill Crawler” and his party tricks like pulling his thumb off.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Louis Harris. Lu passed away on the ten year anniversary of his father’s passing.

He is survived by his wife, Shari; his daughter Ashley and her husband Alex Holladay, parents of his grandchildren Hannah and Harris; his son James Harris and his wife Laura, who are expecting his third grandchild in November; his mother Martha Marggraf Harris; his siblings: Mike, Ellen Heiberger, John, Tom, David and their families; as well as Shari’s siblings who considered him a brother: Marc, Drew, Tom, Bill and their families; and Shari’s mother, Ann Masterson.

Funeral services are under the direction of Callaway-Jones funeral home.
