Lowell A. Patterson

October 2, 1941 — June 22, 2022

A Celebration of Life will be held for Lowell A. Patterson, 80, of College Station, Texas on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center in Bryan. Life Celebrant Dawn Lee Wakefield and Rev. Preston McCallum, Mr. Patterson’s great-nephew, will officiate. Mr. Patterson died June 22 at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan.

Lowell A. Patterson was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on October 2, 1941 to Lowell Lee and Lillie Patterson. He grew up in Sulphur Springs and fell in love with nature and farming as a child. The family relocated to Dallas, where he grew up curious about electronics. Early on, he’d tinker with radios, and his fascination increased. He went to college in Dallas where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering.

When Lowell met Brenda Wier, both had been married before, and began life together with her son and they had two more children together. Their first years together were in Dallas, where he worked for Collins Radio and earned the respect of all his coworkers. He retired from that job, and then worked for himself for many years.

The family relocated to the Brazos Valley, where he owned and operated Delta Pecan Farms, which brought him great joy. He taught horticulture classes to students at Texas A&M University.

Lowell’s attitude in life was to work hard, expect good results, don’t settle for second-best, and if you’re going to do a job, do it right the first time. He was a perfectionist and set high goals for his work. He could fix virtually anything that was broken.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Lois Moore, and Mary. Lowell is survived by wife, Brenda; sister, Susie Taylor; son, David (Brent) Phillips and wife, Angela of Corpus Christi; daughter, Stacy Herd and husband, Aaron of San Antonio; son, John Patterson of Houston; and four grandchildren, Andrea Herd, Haley Herd, BrieAnna Phillips, and Trevor Phillips; and great-grandsons, Jaxton and Aiden.
