Dr. Lisa Mae Adcock

Lisa Mae Stegall Adcock of Bryan, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 with her loving family at her side. Born November 5, 1961 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lisa was the daughter of John Wyley Stegall, Jr. and Elaine McGee.

A graduate of Sulphur High School (1979), Northwestern State University of Louisiana (1984) and LSU Medical School in New Orleans (1988), Dr. Lisa Adcock enter her pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1988, followed by a neonatal fellowship from 1991-1994. In 1991, Dr. Adcock was recognized at the Most Outstanding Young Pediatrician by the Harris County Medical Society and in 1994 was invited to join the faculty of Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Adcock served as one of Baylor’s respected premier neonatologists at Texas Children’s Hospital for 14 years until she moved to Bryan-College Station, Texas to serve the Brazos Valley as a regional neonatal specialist.  While living in BCS, Dr. Adcock also served on the Texas A&M Medical School’s clinical faculty, held positions as NICU Director in two local hospitals and provided neonatal care in hospitals in Victoria & Lufkin. An excellent teacher and administrator, Dr. Adcock was loved and respected by all who knew her and greatly admired by those who worked alongside her in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units where she worked.

Outside of her role as a neonatal physician, Lisa loved reading, gardening and cooking, but especially loved encouraging and helping others.  A generous, deeply compassionate person, Lisa spent much of her life quietly and sometimes secretly helping others.  A faithful Christian since her teen years, Lisa’s life was marked by a deep and personal faith and a truly humble spirit.  She loved medicine and caring for the most vulnerable among us.  Best known for her deep love for and commitment to her family, Lisa cherished her husband David, daughter Alyssa & her husband Aaron, and her grandson David, nicknamed “Bee”.

Lisa is survived by her husband of 40 years, David A. Adcock and daughter Alyssa M. Besly (Aaron) of Bryan, Texas.  She is also survived by her cherished two-year-old grandson David S. “Bee” Besly.  In addition, Lisa is survived by her siblings John W. Stegall, III (Rhonda) of Kinder, LA and Sandra Miller (Ryan) of College Station, TX, as well as step-sisters Tami Triska (Chris) of El Campo, TX and Kim Thompson (Mike) of Lake Charles, LA.  Lisa is also survived by her niece/adopted sister Nicole Stegall of Bryan, Texas and thirteen nieces and nephews.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents John W. Stegall, Jr. and Carolyn Hebert Stegall as well as her precious step-brother Dwayne Anthony Rider, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, 3001 S. College Avenue in Bryan, Texas on Thursday November 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM, followed by a brief graveside service at the Aggie Field of Honor & Memorial Cemetery located at 3800 Raymond Stotzer Parkway, in College Station.  Family visitation will occur Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 PM and again Thursday from 10:00-11:00 AM.
