Linda Lee Tarantino Sneed

May 27, 1947 — March 2, 2021

Linda Lee Tarantino Sneed, 73, of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas. Her life began on May 27, 1947, in Plainfield, New Jersey, the daughter of Charlie Tarantino and Ethel Hansen.

She spent her early years in New Jersey. One of her earliest jobs was working part time at her father’s shoe shop in Flemington. She attended Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington. While there, Linda enjoyed many athletic actives including swimming, diving, flags, and basketball. She met her high school sweetheart, Delmer Sneed, when they were in high school together.

Linda received her high school diploma at Hunterdon and soon thereafter enrolled at West Virginia University. She studied physical education and science and graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor’s degree in physical education and minors in both Driver’s Education & Biology. Linda and Delmer married while she was in college. Two of her jobs included a career in Civil Service at the Public Works Department at the CBC base in Port Hueneme, California, as well as a receptionist at Centennial Hills Animal Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Eventually Linda and Delmer came to Lexington, Texas, where they settled on a wonderful working ranch, complete with 3 donkeys, 10 goats, 10 chickens, 1 cat, 2 dogs, and 2 tortoises as their resident wildlife. On the ranch Linda loved gardening, sewing, camping, and general ranch upkeep that seems to never end. She loved the outdoors so much, even gathering her chicken’s eggs was a joy every day.

In the 54 years of their marriage, Linda and Delmer built a loving family of three children, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, all of whom survive her, as well as her mother, two sisters, and two brothers.

Of Linda, the entire family describes her as a kind and loving person, one of the kindest souls to walk this earth.  She was a “Mom” to everyone that she met, and she deeply loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
