Lila Wayne

September 12, 1927 — March 21, 2024

Visitation will be held Tuesday March 26th at Callaway Jones Funeral Home with visitation start at 2:00 pm and  funeral services to begin at 3:00 pm. Internment is following at Restever Memorial Park with Rev Tim Skaggs officiating.

Lila was born on Sept 12, 1927 to Issac Brown and Nora A {Holliday} Harrison in Tabor, Texas. Lila graduated from Stephen F Austin  in 1945 where she played softball and volleyball. After graduating school mother joined College Ave Baptist Church which later became Central Baptist where she was a life time member. Mother briefly worked at International Shoe Company where she met the love of her life Philip H Wayne and they were married on May 6, 1955 and had two girls Joanna and Phyllis. She loved being around family and especially watching those grand boys play baseball from little league through high school, then the great grand boys started playing and she never missed any games until recently. In her free time she loved to do needlework. Mother participated in Widows Hope at Central Baptist Church and volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Joseph Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years Philip H Wayne, her parents Issac Brown and Nora Harrison; sisters Avis Loraine Chaffin, Mattie O’Neal Smith, Helen Rae Lero; brothers Issac Brown” Sonny” Harrison and Roland Lee Harrison.

Survivors are one sister Mary Ellen Wine of Lubbock; brother in law Joe Smith; sister in law Annette Harrison; children JoAnna {Paul} Minar, Phyllis {Billy} Ebner; grandkids Lance Dobbins and wife Devra, Matthew Ebner and wife Kelly; great grandkids Hunter Dobbins and wife Lexi, Brody Dobbins, Emerson and Hadley Ebner and many neices and nephews.

The family would like to thank mothers hospice caregivers Shannon, Cecila, Stacey and Ed. They took outstanding care of our mother and we appreciated their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimers Organization.
