Kim Ross Burks, 69 of Bryan, Texas, passed away on June 26, 2023.
Kim was born on August 10, 1953 in Odessa, Texas. He attended high school in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School. Upon graduation, he then attended Odessa College.
Throughout his lifetime, Kim worked at Best Cleaners, Barnco Inc., and Texas Department of Transportation where he retired from. He was also apart of Highland Methodist and Christ Church. His community service and special awards include Downtown Lion’s Club, Odessa Jaycees, Stephen Ministry, Mending Hearts, and Brazos Valley Casa.
Kim loved anything Star Trek, target shooting, photography, spending time with family, and reading. Everyone who knew him would describe him as a kind and humble soul. He was a great example to all. He was strong, genuine, and loving. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a great smile, and gave the best hugs.
Kim is preceded in death by his parents Baylor and Ruth Burks, brother Don Burks, sister Paula Burks Baker, and father-in-law Choyce Glynn Hancock. He is survived by his loving wife Glenda Hancock Burks of Bryan, sons Chris Burks (Magy) of Thrall and Michael Burks (Jen) of Odessa, daughter Liz Burks Barker (Neal) of Midland, grandson Jack (J.P.) Burks of Odessa, granddaughter Katie Burks of Odessa, mother-in-law Neva Hancock Smith of Dublin, brother-in-law Mike Hancock (Becky) of Bryan, nieces Megan Hancock of Bryan and Cristi Mitchell (Gordon) of Liberty Hill, and great nephew Jacob Tecum of Bryan.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 2 pm at Christ Church. 4201 State Hwy 6, College Station, TX.
The family asks that any memorial donations be given to Christ Church Choir or Stephen Ministry (4201 State Hwy 6, Bryan, Texas 77845), and Voices for Children (115 N. Main, Bryan, Texas 77803)
