Ken Dooley, 74, of College Station, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in Bryan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, July 9, 2021 at Zion Church of Kurten. Life Tribute Service will be at 10 am, Saturday, July, 10, 2021, at the church. Interment will follow in Martins Prairie Cemetery in Keith with Military Honors by the Earl Graham Post No. 159, American Legion. Brother Charlie Ray, Pastor of Zion United Methodist Church in Iola will officiate. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.
He was born in Bryan, Texas on October 11, 1946 to William Douglas and Ola Mae Mercer Dooley. A Class of 68 graduate of Texas A&M University, Ken served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired as a Major in the reserve service. He worked at the Bryan Post Office for 30 years and retired in 2009. Ken was a member of the American Legion for 25 plus years. Ken was a member of the Zion Church in Kurten and was part of the youth’s Awana Ministry. A loving husband and devoted grandfather, he will be remembered for his ever-present smile and sense of humor.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Sue Jarvis Dooley, in 2014. He was survived by his wife Kathryn Seale Dooley and two sons and a daughter-in law: Scott Dooley of The Woodlands and Seth Dooley and Stacy Dooley of Round Rock. He has three grandchildren: Liam, McKenzie and Charlie; his sister, Diana Hillhouse and husband Mike, of North Richland Hills; his brother Richard and wife Judy Dooley, of Dallas; his nephews and nieces; and other family members.
