Kathy Edmondson

Kathleen “Kathy” Mifanwy Hausinger Edmondson, 97, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 23, 2023, under the comforting care of Hospice Brazos Valley.  She was born in Orange, Texas, to Howard and Ruth (Davies) Hausinger on May 30, 1926. In High School she adopted the nickname “Vanny”, was a cheerleader, sang and played tenor drums in an orchestra and was very active in the Bengal Guards. After graduation she stayed in Orange for a little while, then moved to Houston, New Orleans, and California. Eventually she married Jimmy Edmondson, an entertainer known as “Professor Backwards”, moved to Jacksonville Florida and had a son, Howard.  Unfortunately, Howard passed away in his teens.  After her divorce from Jimmy she stayed in Florida until 1985 when she moved to Somerville Texas to live near her sister, Mildred.  She loved golfing, winning a number of trophies, was proud of selling Avon for 33 years but most importantly that she had been able to live independently at home until near the end.

Throughout all of her life, she shared the special love of her sister, Mildred. No matter how far apart they were, they were always together.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Howard Edmondson, her father, Howard Edward Hausinger, mother, Ruth Mildred (Davies) Hausinger, sister, Mildred “Hausy” Hausinger and her wife Marguerite “Margy” Austin, aunt and uncle, Nell and Eddie Underhill, cousins, Dr. D. A. Jung, and Rees Underhill.

She is survived by her friends who doubled as caregivers Monica Smith, Wilma Wolters, Cathy Hansen, Kathy Langlotz, Maggie Popp, Mike Jackson and Tom Spellman and many friends locally and in Florida.  Her caregivers would also like to thank the team at Fortress Nursing and Rehabilitation for their wonderful care of Kathy this year.

She instructed that there be no services. Instead, memorials can be made in her honor to Hospice Brazos Valley which provided her great comfort and dignity in her final days, Friends Congregational Church of College Station, or your favorite animal shelter or rescue.

She will be interred between her parents in Rest-Ever Memorial Park in Bryan.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway Jones Funeral Center in Bryan, Texas.
