Her family will receive visitors at Texas Avenue Baptist Church in College Station on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 9am, with a memorial service immediately following. A graveside service and interment will be in Kountze, TX at 3pm; Old Hardin Cemetery.
Julie was born at the Hardin County Hospital in Kountze, TX to Travis Davis Jr. and Marietta Blair. She spent her childhood growing up there with her sister, many cousins and lifelong friends. It was at the Top-Half Drive-in where she was introduced to the love of her life, John Sturm, and they were married on June 25, 1977. After graduating from Lamar University, she became a teacher with West Hardin ISD and eventually Kountze ISD until March 1987. She then became a successful business owner as a State Farm Agent in Kountze, TX and then later again in the Bryan/College Station area.
Julie spent her time on earth as a loving mother and grandmother. Her favorite things to do involved her people; especially her grandkids, church family, extended family, and office staff. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to and singing Southern Gospel music, playing dominoes, shopping for shoes, decorating, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ellis and Mary-Lewis McNeely; paternal grandparents, Travis and Linnie-Rose Davis; father, Travis Davis Jr.; stepfather, Joe Blair; father-in-law WJ Sturm; and other treasured family members.
Julie is survived by her mother, Marietta Blair of Kountze, TX; husband, John Sturm of Bryan, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Lauren Sturm of Bellville, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Blair and Matt Alvarado of Bryan, TX; (4) grandchildren, Seth Sturm, Shane Sturm, Jacqueline Alvarado, and Jarah Alvarado; sister and brother-in-law, Shari and Keith Powell of Kountze, TX; (3) nieces, Keri, Brandi, Karli, and their families; and numerous close family members and friends.
Like a Good Neighbor, Julie has always been there and will be missed terribly.
