Julia Rose Kardell

March 21, 1943 — January 23, 2024

Julia R. Scifres was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.  She left this world peacefully on 23 Jan 2024 at the age of 80.

Julia began her journey in Duncan, Oklahoma born to Loretta and John Shelton the oldest of three children. She graduated High School where she obtained a Cosmetology Degree.  Shortly after graduation she married Charles J. Scifres and had two children.  They later moved to Bryan/College Station to raise their two children, support her husband, as a professor, at Texas A&M and volunteered in local community events.  In her later years, Julia especially enjoyed her volunteer time at the local hospital working in the flower and gift shop.

Julia loved to travel, garden, sew and had a love for dogs.  There was never a time in the Scifres household there were not several dogs underfoot.  She expanded her love for dogs by raising Dachshunds. She also loved spending time at Camp Creek with her family on the weekends.  Later in life, she enjoyed time with family and friends at the beach or just conversing and laughing over coffee.  Julia leaves behind a daughter, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

It is with great comfort she will now lay to rest with her husband, and son.

“The loss of a mother can leave deep emotional wounds, but God offers healing and restoration. He is the One who can mend our broken hearts and bring wholeness to our lives.” Psalm 146:3
