Joseph "Tres" Hayman Iii

December 9, 1996 — April 22, 2021

Tres Hayman was called to his heavenly home after being involved in a tragic motorcycle accident in Austin, Texas. His life will be celebrated at Grace Bible Church – Southwood Campus in College Station, Texas at 2:00 PM on April 30, 2021. The service will be through Callaway-Jones Funeral Home. Dr. Ki Bowman of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, as well as Brother Dan Hall of Livingston Fellowship in Madison, Mississippi, will be officiating. At a later date, the family plans to spread Tres’ ashes over his favorite refuge, the Laguna Madre in Corpus Christi, TX, via airplane flown by his Godfather, Jay Craddock. A monument for Tres will be placed in the Aggie Field of Honor, beside the future resting place of his parents.

Tres was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Joe and Kat Hayman. He and his family moved several times around Texas until landing in Madison, Mississippi, where he would spend the vast majority of his adolescence. Tres attended Madison Middle School and Madison Central High School. Tres was involved in both the tennis and cross-country teams. He was also a member of the Madison United Methodist Church youth group. Tres graduated from Madison Central High School in 2015. From there, he would attend Mississippi State University and Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi before moving to Austin, Texas.

Tres Hayman had the most adventurous spirit, always curious about what lies around the corner. He loved traveling and the outdoors, especially saltwater fishing. He explored 33 states and 11 countries and fully intended to see more. Tres was deeply loved and cherished greatly. He was a friend, a brother, and a son—eager to lend a hand, to protect those around him, and to bring light to dark situations through humor and charisma. In the words of tenth grade Tres, “I am from lift kits and mud tires, from campouts and bonfires. I am from unsweet tea and do it yourself, from climbing trees and neighborly help. I am from all day sport and sweet lemonade, from hanging with friends, and hunting for days. I am from mule deer and the Hill Country, from tennis and running cross country. I am from Grandma’s food at Thanksgiving dinner, from praying for snow in the long, hot winter. I am from family reunions and barbecue, from plates of food that are bigger than you. I am from big boots and cowboy hats. I am from Texas, and that’s where my heart’s at.”

Tres was preceded in death by his grandfather Joseph Harrell Hayman, Sr. Tres is survived by his parents, Joe and Kat Hayman; siblings Skye (22), Jade (17), Chas (16), and Quinn (13); grandparents Shirley Hayman, Curt and Karen Kelling; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch Attention: Dan Adams in Amarillo, Texas at www.calfarley.org.

Services will be available on the Callaway-Jones Facebook Live. Due to some sensitivities the family is asking everyone to refrain from wearing any kind of perfume or cologne.
